🌼 Meet Calendula: The Golden Healer

Calendula: The Golden Healer 🌼
If sunshine had a scent, it would smell like Calendula — earthy, sweet, and a little wild.
She’s one of those plants that doesn’t ask for much and still gives everything back.
At The Hobbyist, we call her *the golden healer of the garden*. You’ll find her in our Hippie Haven Soap and Botanical Bath Bombs — softening skin, calming inflammation, and bringing that warm, grounded glow we all need more of.
Why We Love Her
Calendula (or *Calendula officinalis* if we’re being fancy) has been used for centuries to heal, soothe, and restore. Her petals are full of antioxidants and anti-inflammatory compounds that help calm redness, hydrate dry skin, and support gentle healing — especially after too much sun or salt water.
When we infuse her petals into oil, she releases that deep golden hue — turning simple plant oils into something that feels like pure sunlight on your skin.

Growing Your Own
If you’ve ever wanted to grow your own herbal ally, Calendula’s the one to start with.
She’s unfussy, forgiving, and loves to bloom.
Sow:Sprinkle her seeds in the soil after the frost is gone.
Sun:Give her light — she thrives on it.
Water: Keep her happy but not drenched.
Harvest: The more you pick, the more she grows (a life lesson in itself).
Hang the blossoms to dry and tuck them into a glass jar — or infuse them into oil for your own handmade skin remedies.
Where You’ll Find Her
You’ll spot her golden petals in our Hippie Haven Soap and Botanical Bath Bombs, where she’s paired with lavender, chamomile, and clary sage. Together, they help skin (and spirits) slow down, soften, and settle back into balance.
It’s a scent that feels like slow evenings and soft light — the kind of ritual that reminds you to breathe again.
Calendula has this quiet kind of wisdom.
She reminds us that healing doesn’t rush. That it’s okay to bloom slowly, even when the conditions aren’t perfect.
Whether she’s growing wild in a Tofino garden or swirling through your bath, her medicine is the same —
Stay soft, stay bright, and keep showing up.Â
Love,Â
Tam xo
