Mackenzie Beach (Tin Wis)

Where the day ends around a beach fire.

If there's one place that captures the magic of a Tofino summer evening, it's Mackenzie Beach (now called it's traditional Nuu-chah-nulth name: Tin Wis).

Blending smoked vanilla with burnt cedar, Mackenzie Beach (Tin Wis) captures the warmth of a beach fire, the comfort of smoke clinging to your sweater, and the quiet feeling of watching the last light fade beyond the horizon.

"Tin wis" (pronounced ti-nu-wis) is a phrase from the Tla-o-qui-aht dialect of the Nuu-chah-nulth language that means "calm waters" or "calm beach". It combines "tin" (calm) and "wis" (beach). It's where locals and visitors gather to watch the sun disappear into the Pacific. Beach fires flicker to life, driftwood crackles in the flames, and the scent of cedar and woodsmoke lingers in the salty evening air. It's the kind of place where conversations stretch a little longer and nobody seems to be in a hurry to leave.

Handcrafted in the coastal surf town of Tofino, on the traditional territory of the Tla-o-qui-aht First Nation.
