Returns & Refunds

Due to the nature of our products and the cost of shipping from our remote location in Tofino, we do not offer returns or refunds.

Because scent is such a personal experience, we’re also unable to offer refunds or exchanges based on scent preference.

Our Coastal Candles are scented using paraben and phthalate-free fragrance oils, and our body products are scented with custom coastal blends of pure essential oils. While these ingredients are thoughtfully chosen and plant-based where possible, they are still active and aromatic.

For this reason, we don’t recommend our products for those with highly sensitive skin or certain skin conditions, as scented products of any kind may cause irritation.

We encourage you to consider this before purchasing, as we’re unable to offer refunds related to skin sensitivity or individual reactions. 

That said, we stand behind everything we make and if your order arrives damaged, defective, or incorrect, please reach out within 7 days of receiving your order at hello@thehobbyist.ca with your order number and a photo of the item. We’ll take a look and make it right - whether that’s a replacement, shop credit, or another solution that feels fair.

To keep things simple (and reduce unnecessary waste), we don’t require items to be sent back.

Everything is made and packed by hand here on the west coast, and we do our best to describe each scent as clearly as possible. If you’re unsure what to choose, feel free to reach out before ordering - we’re always happy to help guide you.
