If there's one scent that tells the story of The Hobbyist, it's On the Inlet.
Inspired by the quiet beauty of the Tofino Botanical Gardens, where winding trails follow the edge of Clayoquot Sound before disappearing beneath towering cedar trees, this was one of the very first candles I ever created. And five years later, it's still the scent our community comes back for again and again.
Blending rosemary, mint, lavender, and cedarwood, On the Inlet captures the feeling of crisp forest air, calm tidal waters, and the kind of stillness that's becoming harder to find. Fresh, herbal, and deeply grounding, it's a candle that has a way of slowing the pace of a room the moment it's lit.

Handcrafted in small batches in Tofino, on the traditional territory of the Tla-o-qui-aht First Nation. Every Coastal Candle is vegan and thoughtfully made using ethically sourced ingredients.

This candle is a win! As I was removing it from the special bag it was packaged in, I was instantly delighted by the complimentary scents. I usually have it going in the kitchen and have gotten multiple compliments from visitors who want to know where they can find one. Each “flavor” is calming, refreshing, and soothing on its own. Together, they create a serene and harmonious fragrance. Definitely made with love!

Our body products are made with plant-based ingredients and pure essential oil blends. Our candles use a coconut and eco-soy wax blend, along with paraben- and phthalate-free fragrance oils. Every product is clearly labeled for transparency.
Yes, all products are 100% vegan and never tested on animals.
Orders are typically prepared within 2–9 business days. Since everything is handmade in small batches, processing times may vary slightly compared to large retailers.
