𖦹 holistic home and body goods THAT ARE SUSTAINABLY DESIGNED AND PRODUCED IN TOFINO 𖦹

it's what's inside that counts.

Rooted in Nature. Crafted with Care.

Mindfully Made in Tofino | Non-Toxic, Plant-Powered Self-Care

Welcome — I’m so glad you’re here.

As the holidays settle in and the coast shifts into its quieter, slower season, our little studio on the edge of the Pacific leans even deeper
into ritual, rest, and the kind of care that feels like exhaling.

The Hobbyist began at my kitchen table and has grown, slowly and intentionally, into a family-run studio on the west coast of Vancouver Island. What we make is shaped by this place — the soft winter light over Clayoquot Sound, the scent of cedar after rain, the comfort of gathering close when the winds pick up.

From Tofino, we craft holistic home + body goods in small batches: botanical soaps, coastal candles, salt soaks, plant perfumes, essential-oil blends, and more. Each one is made by hand using non-toxic, plant-powered, ocean-safe ingredients.

Nothing rushed. Nothing wasted. Everything grounded in care.

We work in step with the seasons, blending ethically foraged botanicals and locally grown plants — many gathered right here in the rainforest — with organic butters, oils, and pure essential oils. Every offering carries a piece of this coastline and the intention behind it.

But at the heart of it all is something deeper:

Connection. Intention. Ritual. Home. Family.

I’m Tam — a mother, a maker, and a woman raised by strong women. My partner Dave, our daughter Jade, and our small studio team help bring each season’s offerings to life. This work is personal to us. When you choose something from The Hobbyist — whether it’s a gift for someone you love or a quiet moment for yourself — you’re supporting real hands, real families, and a dream that’s been tended with care.

This season can feel overwhelming, rushed, and noisy. We hope what we create offers the opposite: a pause, a breath, a feeling of being grounded again.

Our hope is that every soap, candle, and blend becomes a small ritual in your winter — a way of returning to yourself, even on the busiest darkest days of the year.

From our coastal home to yours, thank you for being here with us.

Sending love from Tofino,
Tam xo
